Rainwater Catchment | automated irrigation systems
Rainwater catchment systems capture and store rainwater for landscape irrigation. A typical house with 2,000 square feet of roof area receiving 24 inches of rainfall can collect approximately 30,000 gallons of water a year. Rainwater is stored in above or below ground tanks until needed in the summer to irrigate plants in the garden.

At the Vanelli Residence, WaterSprout designed and installed a rainwater catchment system which stores rainwater in a 10,000 gallon underground cistern for landscape irrigation. When irrigation water is needed, the irrigation controller turns on a pump which draws rainwater out of the cistern and sends it to the drip irrigation system in the garden.
